Downsend is celebrating success after taking part in the South East Regional Schools Biathlon Championships last weekend. Competing across seven age groups, our pupils dominated the championships, securing 8 regional titles, comprised of 5 team titles and 3 individual titles, and no less than 36 medals and plaques. In doing so, Downsend achieved the best results ever of any school in the country for these age groups.
Our congratulations to George Brill, who has just been awarded both an Academic Scholarship & an All-rounder Scholarship to Reigate Grammar School for 13+ entry in September 2009. Well done George - you should be very proud of your achievements!

A cast of almost 90 girls and boys breathed new life into Dickens' classic 'A Christmas Carol' when they performed in front of packed audiences two nights in a row at the end of last term. Year 7 and 8 pupils took part in their annual production in a school hall transformed in to a Victorian Parlour.
Year 5 and 6 girls at Downsend School, Leatherhead were treated to a hockey master class recently when former GB Olympic Hockey Team Captain, Jason Laslett, visited. Making full use of the school's floodlit, all-weather pitch, the ex-national team player gave an impressive display of hockey skills and coaching. To read more, click on the title.
